What is the Next Level 3 on 3 League?
“You develop a team to achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. All of us are weaker, by far, than if all of us are together."

What the Next Level 3 on 3 Competitive League Is All About (our 5th year)

         When:
Wednesdays - starting Sept. 16th ending Nov. 4th (8 weeks)
Where: HIghlands Ranch High School
Who: Boys Middle School (7th-8th), JV (9th-10th), Varsity (11th and 12th)

The Next Level 3 v 3 League is a competitive league geared towards preparing a player for an upcoming season.  Our format of dribble restrictions (for 2 of 3 games per night)  forces players to :

-Get signicantly more "touches" on offense
-Lear
n how to be effective without the ball - setting and reading screens / as well as making effective cuts
-Understand "spacing"
-Be a good offensive player in 3 dribbles or less
-Be an immediate threat with the ball as soon as they catch it
- GET IN SHAPE

Each session consists of a 30 minute shooting workshop and then a 1 hour segment of 3 on 3 competition. Teams will play 3 games against different teams.  5 point games will be tabulated and used to determine who the next opponent will be.. teams with more wins will play other teams with similar record...almost like a tournament each night  in the gym.

As a former college and professional basketball player, and now a coach - I can say this is a fun and effective way to develop your game. Our dribble restriction (for 2 of the 3 games) forces movement (cutting and screening) and teamwork. This format really speeds up the pace of the game, helps you get a lot of touches and shots up, and gives you the opportunity to work in condensed game-like conditions.  3 on 3 with dribble restrictions  makes a player be more efficient and learn how to think ahead.  A good player should be able to get it done in 3 dribbles.  This format really demands attention to the development of these skills in particular:  to be able to catch and shoot, set and read screens, and move without the ball.  You will get 10 times the amount of touches in this format instead of playing 5 on 5, and you are constantly in an immediate help position on defense...you can't hide in this game format.

The league consists of 3 divisions Middle School (7th and 8th), JV (9th and 10th) and Varsity (11th and 12th).   Each session will be approximately 1.5 hours in length.  Each session begins with a 30 minute shooting workshop, followed by a series of, 3 on 3 games, all of which will involve a 0, 1, 2, or 3 dribble restriction.

The sweatshops will consist of various shooting and scoring skill drills - examples include but are not limited to - shooting off the catch, shooting off the dribble, finishing moves, offensive moves from the wing, and post moves.  All sessions will be conducted by Marty Clark and the Next Level coaching staff.

Schedule - The league season consists of 8 sessions on WEDNESDAY NIGHTS beginning Sept. 16th and ending on Nov. 4th.  We WILL PLAY DURING FALL BREAK (Oct 21st for Douglas County and Oct 28th for Cherry Creek schools)
